Special thanks to Autism Speaks for organizing and hosting a premiere party and screening for “Decoding Autism” on September 21st in West Windsor, NJ. A number of parents, educators, autism advocates, doctors and autism researchers attended, as well as NJN colleagues who worked on the documentary. NJ Commissioner of Health & Senior Services, Dr. Poonam Alaigh, also joined us, as well as some of our funders. The evening included a lively panel discussion, featuring Dr. Yvette Janvier, a pediatric neurologist from Children’s Specialized Hospital in Toms River, NJ; Dr. Rita McWilliams, an epidemiologist at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; and Dr. Hakon Hakonarson, an autism gene researcher at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Some of us even posed for photos prior to the screening!
